The story of the ten virgins has always puzzled me. In this parable Yeshua never mentioned the bride. Why? Why is the bride hidden in this story?
Yeshua often took real life stories and applied them to spiritual principles. Once I was thinking about this parable from the Scriptures and asked Yeshua about it. Here is the revelation I received from the Holy Spirit.
“Ten maidens are waiting for My Coming, and only five will enter the feast. And of the five who entered, only one is My Bride. ”
Then suddenly a thought came to me. During the earthly life of Yeshua, many maidens often surrounded the bride. They were all waiting for the coming of the bridegroom. Indeed, in life there is only one bride at a wedding ceremony, but many guests. Then I began to wonder if the same picture is described elsewhere in the Scriptures. Moreover, the Holy Spirit began to remind me of some passages from the Bible.
So, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together to the citadel of Susa, to the custody of Hegai, Esther was taken into the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women. (Esther 2:8 WEB - World English Bible)
The king loved Esther more than all the women, and she obtained favor and kindness in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown on her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti. (Esther 2:17 WEB)
Then I asked what the difference between Esther and the other girls was. Then another verse came to my mind:
Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, came to go in to the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s eunuch, the keeper of the women, advised. Esther obtained favor in the sight of all those who looked at her. (Est 2:15 WEB)
Esther wished to stand before the king in a way that was pleasing to the king, not in a way that pleased only her. Similarly, the Bride of Yeshua will appear before the King of Kings in holiness pleasing to Him, received by the Holy Spirit.
After that, other Scriptures came to my mind:
There are sixty queens, eighty concubines, and virgins without number. My dove, my perfect one, is unique. She is her mother’s only daughter. She is the favorite one of her who bore her. The daughters saw her, and called her blessed; the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. (Song of Solomon 6:8-9 WEB)
John answered, “A man can receive nothing, unless it has been given him from heaven. You yourselves testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before him.’ He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. This, my joy, therefore is made full. (John 3:27-29 WEB)
Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he. (Matthew 11:11 WEB)
In other words, all of God's people who died before the crucifixion of Christ and did not enter into His covenant - even the greatest of them, John the Baptist - are not part of His Bride.
These Scriptures prompted me to ask a question, and I asked Yeshua who His Bride was.
And the answer came through the Scriptures.
I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:11 WEB)
Being assembled together with them, he commanded them, “Don’t depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which you heard from me. For John indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Act 1:4-5 WEB)
Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all with one accord in one place. Suddenly there came from the sky a sound like the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them the ability to speak. (Act 2:1-4 WEB)
Let’s rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let’s give the glory to him. For the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his wife has made herself ready.” It was given to her that she would array herself in bright, pure, fine linen: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (Revelation 19:7-8 WEB)
Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus after her purification for twelve months (for so were the days of their purification accomplished, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet fragrances and with preparations for beautifying women). (Esther 2:12 WEB)
… and his wife has made herself ready… (Revelation 19:7)
Does it mean that more than a simple prayer for the forgiveness of sins is needed? Does His Bride have to prepare herself? But how?
We see that the first step in establishing a relationship with the Groom is repentance. Then, according to His Word, His Bride was commanded to be baptized in water (full immersion-mikvah), then baptized by the Holy Spirit, and then to pass through the purifying baptism (immersion) of Holy Fire.
But that is not all.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20 WEB)
What does this mean to us?
The Groom wants to have a personal relationship with His Bride. You cannot have distant relationship with Him and expect to be part of His Beloved.
Many believers repent of their sins, are baptized in water, and with a sense of duty, go to church every Sunday. They pray twice a day. They give money and help the poor. They do various charities. However, they do not open their hearts to the Bridegroom for a personal relationship with Him. Moreover, they are not looking for His presence. They do not seek Him with their hearts in holy love and do not feel a need for the Son of God. How, then, do these people expect to be His Bride? There is no love in their Christian walk, but only a self-righteous religious pride, that they are the only chosen ones.
When God created Adam and Eve, He had a personal relationship with them in the Garden of Eden. However, sin became a separation between God and mankind. Then Yeshua came to die for us and restore this relationship. Now He is preparing for Himself a Bride from among the saved people. The Son of God is always looking at the hearts of His people and their love for Him. He will not enter into a union with those who are indifferent to His Word, as well as with those who ignore the guidance of the Holy Spirit. His Bride is mature in spirit, and she purifies herself in the Holy Fire of His love. She loves Him with all her heart, with all her soul, and with all her strength.
Set me as a seal on your heart, as a seal on your arm; for love is strong as death. Jealousy is as cruel as Sheol. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a very flame of Yahweh. Many waters can’t quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man would give all the wealth of his house for love, he would be utterly scorned. (Song of Solomon 8:6-7 WEB)
The time has come to ask these questions: Am I His Bride? Do I have a personal relationship with Him? Am I satisfied with having a distant relationship with Him? Do I want to know Him, to know His will? Do I only want the fulfillment of my needs and desires? Do I really want to pray to Him, talk to Him, and listen to Him?
Ask yourself these questions: Am I a foolish virgin who will not even enter into the marriage feast? Do I love Him enough to be His Bride? Or will I enter into the feast only as a guest? Am I the Bride who prepared herself for Him and is spiritually intimate with Him?
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says!
